WLR3
Fast Migration to the WLR3 Protocol
Singularity's Wholesale Line Rental Accelerator enables Communication Service Providers to quickly and painlessly migrate from the existing Wholesale Line Rental Protocol WLR2 to the successor WLR3 protocol.
Under the Telecommunications Strategic Review in the UK, BT has begun separating its wholesale supply operations (OpenReach) from retail customer facing operations (BT Retail). The UK's communications regulator OFCOM has stipulated that BT Retail and third party Communication Providers (CPs) should use the same mechanisms to access the OpenReach network, to ensure 'equivalence of input'. Currently CPs interact with the BT wholesale network using the protocol WLR2. From 2007, as part of the initiative, OpenReach has been asking CPs to migrate to the successor protocol WLR3 as part of its restructuring, while continuing to support WLR2 for a period. Singularity has developed a WLR3 solution to enable CPs to quickly migrate to the new protocol and subsequently interact with OpenReach.
- Supports CPs migration from WLR2 to WLR3
- Gain equivalent access to the same ordering and fault reporting capability enjoyed by BT
- Provides a range of facilities called 'dialogue services', enabling CPs to do pre-order checks such as address matching and line installation details
- Supports greater visibility of order management and time-related charges by introducing pre-authorised banding of orders
- Provides KCI (keeping customer informed) updates on order and fault progress, enabling CPs to keep their own customers informed
