Singularity Scores WLR3 Success

Global software vendor Singularity has notched up another success for its version of the BT telco market protocol WLR3.

Niche communications provider Beaming says Singularity's Wholesale Line Rental 3 (WLR3) product has been key to it securing a major new contract in competition with about 25 rival firms.

As a result of a decision by the regulator Ofcom, BT has replaced its traditional monopoly on its wholesale services with a new sales regime, which is operated through a new spinout company, OpenReach.

WLR3 allows independent providers like Beaming to access OpenReach's line rental products and services. Providers of phone services to business and private customers must adopt WLR3 by June 2011, when the old WLR2 will become obsolete.

Beaming, which is based in East Sussex, is one of the UK's leading providers of high quality internet and telephone products.

It bought the Singularity 3.3 model in April 2009 and has experienced continuous trading growth despite the UK recession and its hangover impact.

The latest success is a 250 location broadband network contract in the north-west of England. It comes hot on the heels of another new customer contract involving broadband services to 70 office locations.

So it's a scalable charge not a flat monthly fee."
