Local Software firm sponsors 10001 Santas

Derry software firm Singularity has rowed in behind next Sunday's 10001 Santas charity event. Having built the charity's web-site free of charge, the company has announced that instead of sending out corporate Christmas gifts to their clients this year they will donate the equivalent amount to 10001 Santas' supported charities.

"We're delighted to contribute in any way we can", says Chief Financial Officer John Cowley. "It's great to see a Derry-based initiative capture the imagination like this and we wish them every success in breaking the world record".

The 10001 Santas event hopes to break the world record for the largest number of people dressed as Santa in one location. All money raised will go to four selected charities – Foyle Hospice, Macmillan Cancer Support, Children in Crossfire and iCare 4 Autism. Many of Singularity's employees will be taking part in the event next Sunday, with the company laying on a staff breakfast on Sunday morning. The 10001 Santas gathering itself will take place in Derry city centre at 11.30am, starting off with music and entertainment at the “Gig Rig” on Guildhall square. Street entertainers and Santas Helpers will be positioned around the city's walls giving out small treats to children. Nambarrie will also be at the Millennium Forum and Guildhall Square to supply a “wee cup of tea”. The Guinness Book of Records' Adjudicator will provide each Santa with a certificate for becoming a World record Breaker.
